Aspen, Intrawest, and Mammoth Are Now One

Recently, the Aspen Skiing Company announced the purchase of Steamboat, Stratton and Intrawest in a $1.5 billion deal to acquire Steamboat and the operator of Winter Park, Intrawest. While these two resorts are in Colorado, part of the deal includes Mammoth Resorts, a big name in California skiing including Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Snow Summit, Bear Mountain and June Mountain.

This Ski Season Gets a Jump Start!

In the race to see which ski resorts will be the first to open, the West usually gets all of the press. This year, to the surprise of many, Killington Resort in Vermont kicked off the ski season in North America on its opening day, October 19. Ski resorts around the nation are following in their tracks, and pushing for earlier openings. So if you’ve already got your gear waxed and you’re ready to hit it this year, here’s a list of the first ski resorts to open regionally across the nation.

Fall Ski Conditioning Outside of the Gym

And every year, I’m torn between my love for the long, lazy summer afternoons and the knowledge that come December, my spindly summer legs aren’t going to cut it.
