New High Speed Chair Among Powderhorn’s Improvements

There’s no sitting around during the off season at the Powderhorn Mountain Resort, CO when chairs need to be taken apart on the retired Take Four lift and be replaced with a new high-speed four-seater chairlift. Ascending from the base village of the Powderhorn Mountain Resort, the new ride time will take 8 minutes off the old record of 14 minutes to just over a 6 minute ride, allowing winter sport enthusiasts more time for fun on the slopes. Padded chairs and foot rests are also among the amenities of the new lift. The renovation began in June and will be ready by the start of this winter season. The new lift doesn’t have a name yet, but the resort has held a “Name the Lift” contest so the name will be revealed soon.

New Chairlift Components Started arriving at Powderhorn in June!

Located 45 minutes east of scenic Grand Junction, Colorado, the Powderhorn Mountain Resort also plans to invest in improving their snowmaking equipment. Last February it was announced that the resort will be seeing $5M dollars worth of renovations to areas that haven’t seen improvements in 20 years.

A family friendly resort, the Powderhorn Mountain Resort is compiled of 16,000 acres of breath-taking landscape suited to all levels of expertise and tastes. Of the 16,000 acres of terrain, 600 acres are groomed. There are three terrain parks to choose from as well as a tubing hill. During the winter season, a Children’s Learning Center is opened from 8:30AM to 3:30PM.

A season pass is the best value for your buck, and they are available until early October. Enjoy ten days at the Resort and your pass is practically paid for. The pass also allows unlimited snowboarding and skiing, resort discounts, and discounts for other ski resorts. Check their website for sale dates, and any restrictions that may apply.
