With Many Resorts

Where to go for my ski vacation? This is a hard question to answer. There are so many different resorts all over North America that you can choose from. How can you possibly just choose one resort? If you are going to make the effort of planning and drop the coin you better go somewhere epic, and to as many resorts as possible.

A place that not a lot of people think about is, in fact, Summit County, Colorado. Yes, people do think of Colorado but most don’t know about Summit County. This place is particularly special because there are 5 world class ski resorts all in this one county. These 5 magical places are Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, and Keystone. Each one of these resorts has something unique and wonderful to offer.

Arapahoe Basin

In 1946 Arapahoe Basin AKA A-Basin or A-Bay as the locals say opened its slopes to the public. This is a special resort compared to the rest because it still has that local laid-back feel. Arapahoe Basin is typically cheaper than the others because it is not owned by Vail. So you won’t have those overpriced lift tickets and you will find some great runs. The back bowl is a resort favorite and so are the bloody marys. This resort was not made for the weak either they only have 7% of trails that are easy and the rest are more difficult to the extreme. The drive there is also a sight to see especially if you go over the Loveland Pass you really feel the magic of the mountain. Parking is also free and they have free shuttles as well.

Loveland

Loveland Ski Area is considered to be the family-friendly resort. The mountain has 1,800 acres of terrain that are for all levels of skiers. Loveland has at least 13% of easy terrain and the longest run is 2 miles long. They have a whole separate area for beginners so the more excelled can really shred. This resort has 9 chair lifts and a vertical drop of 2,210 feet. You will also find better prices and more of a family vibe to this resort. They also have free snowcat rides to harder terrain. The lift with the highest elevation is number 9 at 12,700 feet. Park for free and enjoy the freedom of loving Loveland.

Copper Mountain 

Copper Mountain has 2,490 acres of skiable terrain and a base village that feels more like a small close-knit town. The terrain is very spread out with 21% beginner, 25% intermediate, 36% advanced, 18% expert. This is more of a family fun resort with a laid back feel to it. Copper also has a naturally divided terrain that brings world-class skiing. Copper Mountain has three different village areas that offer a vibrant atmosphere with accommodations, retailers, bars and restaurants, and family events. Head to the heart of the Rockies and experience Copper Mountain.

Keystone

This is truly a playground of a mountain. Drive through beautiful Dillon, Colorado right on to Keystone Ski Resort. This place is very family-friendly and also has a laid-back environment. The terrain is very vast at Keystone and there is a trail for every kind of skier. Lots of beginner trails and all the way to expert. The mountain has 3,148 acres of skiing and a total of 20 lifts. The villages at Keystone Resort are full of fun things to do, shopping, dining and much more. They even have snow tubing, ice rink, and sleigh rides. If you want to be enchanted by a mountain of fun Keystone is the spot.

Breckenridge

Breckenridge is one of the largest ski resorts in Colorado and it has the highest chairlift in North America. The town of Breckenridge is the picturesque mountain town. Filled with shopping, bakeries, and small-town boutiques to well-known brands. There are 34 lifts on the mountain, 187 trails and 2,908 acres of terrain. This is a favorite mountain for many people across the country. This place is very hard not to love. With countless events on the mountain and in the town the action never stops at Breck!

All of these great resorts are located in Summit County, Colorado now you just need to decide where to stay. You can choose towns like Dillon or Silverthorne to be centrally located. Or, pick one of the resorts where you will ski mostly and shuttle to the others. Its all very easy to do and enjoy in one vacation. But we bet you will be back for more after one time!
