One good thing about skiing in the spring, and even in the summer, is the lower cost it takes to do it. So if you’ve overspent during the winter, or didn’t spend at all, the amount you will save during the spring ski season will benefit you greatly.

Here are some suggested ski resorts you can visit to extend your winter play, or to make up for lost time on the trails this ski season.

Head north to Canada my friend, head north!

That’s right. The colder it is, the better, and the longer the snow will last. So consider:

Whistler-Blackcomb, Canada. If you’re looking for a resort that offers long runs; widespread terrain; great back-country skiing; and an extended ski season, Whistler Blackcomb can deliver! With an unfailing spring snowfall, and the Blackcomb Glacier, you’re all set to ride the trails well into the spring ski season.

OK, so you’re not going to Canada. That’s OK, we still got you covered! Since you’ll only be visiting resorts in the US, why not try one of the following:

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado. No matter which activity you plan to do when you get there, you’ll probably be doing it somewhere on or close to the beach, because Arapahoe is all about the après groove.  So rest up my friend, rest up!

Mammoth Mountains, California. With 320 days of sunshine a year; the high elevation of the mountains; the longer days in the sun; and the affordable spring prices, there’s no doubt you and the family will have a fantastic Mammoth Mountain experience when you visit this resort.

Park City, Utah. It’s been said that Park City is the heart of American skiing. As one of the largest ski resorts in the US, and with close to 100 trails, you are certain to find one that suits your skill level. And now that it’s merged with Canyons, you will have approximately 7,300 acres of solid terrain to enjoy.

With so many fun and exciting resorts to choose from, there are a few things to keep in mind when planning to go spring skiing.

  • Having the correct skis or snowboard equipment for the conditions.
  • The melt-freeze cycle: slush is not your friend, so avoid it at all cost. Or in other words, wax, wax, wax your skies very well.
  • Your skin – don’t forget to use good sunscreen to protect yourself from the heavy sun rays.

Remember these things and you will be just fine, and you’re spring skiing session, even better.
