4 New Reasons to Ski Shawnee

Shawnee Mountain, a family and beginner-friendly ski resort located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, has made several improvements to enhance operations this ski season. From drop-off to strap-on, all enhancements were made to smooth out the ski experience for its guests. Although there are already many reasons to visit, this year you’ll have four more reasons to ski the popular resort, beginning with the entrance.

Smoother entrance
Driving into the resort will be much smoother with the newly paved and widened parking lot entrance and exit loop. Unloading of passengers and gear will be much easier and safer too, thanks to the addition of a two-lane drop off zone.

Snowmaking smoothness
With two new SMI Super PoleCat tower mounted snow machines, guests can expect good snow conditions earlier and more consistently throughout the season on the popular Lower Tomahawk expert slope. The high performance energy-efficient snow machines can throw a lot of snow, and they are radio controlled so they are fully automated. Mounted on towers high along the edge of the trail, the oscillating PoleCats will quickly and efficiently cover Tomahawk’s steep headwall with a deep base.

Smoother tracks
A brand new Pisten Bully 400 Free Groomer has been added to an already impressive grooming fleet that covers 125 skiable acres nightly along the terrain and tubing parks.

Great Ski Rental Gear
Shawnee’s gargantuan ski and snowboard rental shop has been upgraded with the addition of 300 new Elan Exar E-rise skis and an equal amount of brand new Flow and Rossignol snowboards. A new racking system will increase the shop’s capacity to outfit more than 4000 skiers and riders, making it one of the largest rental shops in the U.S.

Shawnee Mountain ski resort is closest to NYC yet surrounded by lush forests, streams and lakes.
