Recently, Panorama Mountain Resort won “North American Resort of the Year”  at the World Snow Awards in London, UK.  Last year, Panorama Mountain Resort opened Taynton Bowl to all skiers with a chairlift to the summit (it was heli-ski-only), adding 750 acres, and 4,019 feet of vertical powder. This year, they’ve added 16.2 more acres of expert double-black diamond skiing with the Jekyll and Hyde trail.

This year, Sun Peaks Resorts opens an NHL size outdoor skating rink. The annual Sun Peaks Winter Okanagan Wine Festival takes place in mid-January, plus there are lots of other food and wine tasting events throughout the season. Combine all that with 4,270 acres of terrain and runs up to five miles long, and Sun Peaks, the second largest ski resort in Canada, offers you a winter getaway you won’t forget.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the only resort worldwide to offer lift, cat, heli, and backcountry skiing from the same village base. This year they have opened 50 more acres of tree-skiing terrain, and several more acres in the terrain park beneath the Stoke Chairlift. Best of all, there are now flights twice weekly between Revelstoke and Vancouver. What used to be a two and a half hour drive from the nearest airport can now be spent on the slopes.

For the third year running, Whistler Blackcomb has been named the “Number One Overall Ski Resort in North America” by Ski magazine readers. This year, $8 million in improvements have been made that include making the mountain more beginner friendly and improving the Roundhouse Lodge glacier-view deck. The resort has plans for a $345-million Renaissance Project that will be done in stages.
