Killington Resort Visitors Win Big

Improved Lifts & Mountain Amenities Await!

Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snow resort in Eastern North America, has invested $25 million on improving all aspects of their ski experience, making it THE place to be this winter. The 2018-19 season is one for the history books, and for good reason. Check out all the stellar improvements in store for this season at Killington Resort:

New and Improved Lifts

The brand new Snowdon Lift Express is a six-person bubble chairlift that will carry passengers the 1,100 vertical feet to the top of Snowdon Mountain. There, you will find mostly opportunities for intermediate cruising. While this area has often been underutilized, this new high-speed lift, plus the improvements to the terrain will breathe new life into the spot, offering new places to explore.

Don’t worry, the old Snowdon Quad lift is getting a new home! In 2011, the decision was made to remove the lift at South Ridge, thus limiting access to this part of the mountain. With the new lift, you will have a whole new area easily available to you.

The K-1 Express Gondola is getting a ton of upgrades ahead of this season! There will be brand new cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows and padded benches, plus a new haul rope. The storage cabin will be fully enclosed and heated, which means our crew will be able to get the gondola up and running even in less-than-ideal weather conditions. Overall, you will find a more efficient and comfortable operation here.

Snowdon Mountain Terrain Improvements

Until now, Snowden has been a less-than-preferred ski spot, known for its busy intersections and lack of top-to-bottom skiing. Your wishes for a smoother skiing experience have been granted! The area has been totally revamped, making the experience more enjoyable for all. There are fewer intersections thanks to the addition of tunnels and new routes.

New ONE PASS RFID Tracking

Killington Resort is excited to introduce ONE PASS technology. Axess smart gates will be installed at every key lift, and your ONE PASS will be reloadable, meaning you can reload online and skip the ticket window. Simply place the ONE PASS in your pocket, and your ticket will be scanned automatically. There is a one-time fee of $5 to start your ONE PASS, but you can reuse it over and over again. Season pass holders will have their fee waived.

New Snowmaking and Grooming Equipment

While Killington gets an average of 78 inches of snow per year, we never know what Mother Nature will do. Quality and well-placed snowmaking equipment is key to any mountain resort. Over a million dollars is being spent to add and reconfigure current snowmaking pipelines, to ensure that no matter what Mother Nature throws at us, we can provide the best ski experience possible. We are also adding four new groomers, including one that specializes in steep terrain. The goal is to have the snow as fresh as possible for you.

Overall Mountain Upgrades

There are TONS of miscellaneous upgrades being made as well, all with you in mind. The goal is to make your time here at Killington as smooth and complete as possible. We are upgrading multiple components on other lifts, improving kitchen efficiency with new equipment and installing state-of-the-art racking systems in the rental shops. Many of these changes will be too small to notice, but the overall effect will be a majorly improved on-mountain experience for all of our guests.
