Three Ways to Experience the Trails

ATV. Rent an All-Terrain Vehicle and take off. There is side by side Polaris ATVs available as well as touring units that will travel approximately 100 miles on one tank of gas. Most of the ATVs are equipped with storage compartments for snacks and personal items like a camera and water bottle.

Snowshoes. Beginners to advanced level snowshoe enthusiasts are welcome to explore the trails. This is a unique and inexpensive way to experience Vail Pass with your family. Rent the snowshoes and poles and then take off on a brand new adventure.

Safety First. Step by step operating instructions are provided and assistance is always available on the trails. Our professional wranglers are available to assist on the trails and will provide their cell phone numbers in case of emergency. During orientation, you will be given a map to help you navigate the best trail for your ability.

Proper Clothing. Helmets are required when on the ATV or snowmobiles, and goggles are strongly suggested. Aside from that, you will want to dress for the weather conditions. Since the conditions can vary, you should be prepared with multiple layers. Make sure you bring your own eyewear as a safety precaution. Bring goggles or sunglasses to protect yourself and just because Colorado Backcountry has a limited supply for eye protection.

Stay for a while. After your adventure on the trail, you can book a night in the nearby town of Red Cliff. Since Colorado Backcountry is located in Red Cliff in the Vail Pass Recreation Area near the town of Minturn, Colorado, you can find lodging in areas like Vail and Beaver Creek.
