Breckenridge Ski Vacation Guide

If you’re after world-class no-limits skiing, Colorado is waiting for you! The Rockies are just a couple hours from Denver and it’s easy to fly in to Denver International Airport and be on the slopes, waist deep in powder that very same day! Let’s start with the stats: The mountain’s base is at 9,600 feet, while the highest skiing peak is just two feet under 13,000 feet, for a vertical rise of 3,398 feet. The vast set of mountainside offers up 2,350 acres of skiing, serviced by nearly 30 lifts with about 150 trails, one that is three and a half MILES long! Peaks 7, 8, 9, and 10 are all developed mountains now. What can we say—Breckenridge is HUGE!

Ski Levels

Thirteen percent of the mountain is made up of beginner trails, just under a third is designated as intermediate, and over half are black diamond. The back bowls are famous, each run an epic adventure! The mountain’s ski patrol checks out every avalanche potential at least once a day, and does an incredible job at ensuring everyone is able to have a good time while enjoying safety on the slopes. Ski instructors can provide everything from beginner’s lessons to private instruction, which can make a world of difference in your skiing, regardless of your level of ability. Their insights have proven invaluable, even made major differences in the development of up and coming professionals. The area is part of an active set of ski competitions as well. With all those acres and miles of trails, the terrain parks, jumps and bumps, you could spend weeks here and not tire of it, or even ski them all!

Après Ski

How do we begin to count the possibilities? There are several bars and restaurants in the village and all over the town. Live music is found in several of the pubs, as well as in the restaurants, both here and in nearby Frisco and Dillon. Dancing, dining (everything from casual grub to fine dining) and most everything anyone could want to enjoy after a long day on the slopes, it’s all there.

The altitude makes a big difference in temperature. The mountain has been open at times when wind chill caused temperatures at the top of the mountain to be sixty degrees BELOW zero! You’ll be very high up, getting less oxygen and more UV rays. Dress appropriately; wear light layers, a breathable waterproof outer shell, a hat that covers your ears, ski mask, goggles, gloves (of course) and at least a neck gator. Go ahead and put on some sunscreen, even if you don’t think you’ll burn. These simple precautions go a long way to ensuring that your ski vacation is all that it can be.

The ski experience here is a favorite of many accomplished and traveled skiers. They’ve found that they can have everything in one resort mountain, just a couple hours outside of Denver. Make it your ski vacation destination this year with affordable deals and discounts. Find out why so many hold Breckenridge to be the gem of Summit County, Colorado!
