Deer Valley Ski Vacation Guide

Skiing on a mountain free from snowboarders can have distinct advantages. Deer Valley recognizes that fact and offers up a magnificent 2,000+ acres of renowned Utah mountain replete with hundreds of inches of powder.

Ski Levels

Expert skiers should head directly to some of Deer Valley’s best black and double black diamond runs: Flagstaff, Thunderer, Blue Ledge, Grizzly, Daly Chutes, Daly Bowl, Anchor Trees, Morning Star, Fortune Teller, Perseverance, Paradise, Narrow Gauge, Orient Express and Stein's Way. Intermediate skiers will find plenty to keep them busy at Hawkeye, Sunset, Legal Tender, Wizard, Conviction, Solace, Orion, Nabob, Sidewinder, Birdseye, Success, and the challenging Jordanelle. Even though the resort has plenty of skilled terrain, it remains focused on a well-rounded ski experience and offers up lots of great runs for novice skiers and proudly houses the Little Chief Family Ski Area in Empire Canyon, which is completely separate from other areas to ensure its guests can have safe fun.

Deer Valley features an amazing Terrain Park called the Tricks 'N' Turns (TNT) Park in the Empire Canyon area, near the Little Chief chair. TNT is primarily designed for intermediate-level skiers and is a bit too challenging for beginners. The Ore Cart Rails are adjacent to the Skier Cross Course on Nugget and include some really nice jumps, double barrels, single rails, and fun boxes. The ski school offers semi-private and private lessons including courses to prepare freestyle skiers to ride park safely.

Après Ski

The area has a great selection of fine restaurants. Some of the more economical slope side choices include the reasonably priced breakfast buffet at the Snow Park Restaurant, and fantastic lunch menus at the Empire Canyon Grill and the Silver Lake Restaurant. Whatever the taste or budget, Deer Valley and the village of Park City has something to satisfy.

An unbelievably fun off the slope activity is the Morning Star Balloon tour taking guests over the entire  area. Your family will be taken aback by some of the most memorable and wonderful scenery not to mention the exhilaration of floating high above jagged mountain peaks and soaring through crisp alpine air. The best place to warm up après ski is at the Lava Hot Springs' World Famous Hot Baths and Olympic Swimming Complex where guests will completely relax in 110 degree Fahrenheit, odor-free pools. It's a couple of hours from Salt Lake City, but the experience is certainly worth the drive, and the ride allows for some jaw-dropping Utah scenery along the way.
