Ski Experience – Cannon Mountain

Cannon Mountain and Mittersill are two of the oldest ski locations in the nation, providing riders with runs and slopes that snow-lovers have been visiting for over 75 years. New Hampshire’s largest vertical drop (2,180 feet) and highest summit (4,080 feet), Cannon gives skiers of all experience levels a chance to be a part of something truly historical.

Ski Levels

Cannon Mountain and Mittersill have nearly 300 acres of skiable land, nine lifts, 72 runs and glades, and an 86 acre back-country area. Private lessons and first-timer discount ski packages are available for all ages as well as special deals on season passes on multi-day tickets. The Franconia Ski Club, started in 1933, is dedicated to providing professional instruction in skiing and ski racing as well as sponsors all levels of NHARA and USSA Junior racing. In fact, World Cup winner Bode Miller, is a Ski Club alumnus. The Brookside Children's Center offers full and half day programs and childcare for kids aged one and older. Within Franconia Notch State Park there are sleigh rides, sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and hiking. The nearby towns of Lincoln, Woodstock and Franconia have all the amenities including, shopping, fine and casual dining, bars and lodging. The Peabody Base Lodge at Cannon Mountain has many amenities including the Cannonball Pub and a ski and snowboard rental and service shop.

Lodging nearby is easy to find, thanks to the multiple townships located a few miles from the slopes.  From upscale resorts and historic inns to budget, family-friendly hotels and quaint New England cottages, the area is a great place to find accommodations for couples or large groups.  Also, the lodging discounts and deals offered are tailored to suit a variety of budgets. Rider’s Guide

Thrilling New Hampshire resort with nine lifts that leading to 72 trails and glades, as well as over 86 acres of backcountry on Mittersill. The longest run is 2.3 miles, the resort has over 150 inches of powder each year. The trails are rated 14 percent for beginners, 46 percent for intermediates, and 40 percent for advanced.

Parks and Pipes

The terrain park located on the lower section of Toss-Up is one of the few terrain parks in the country that actively solicits input from the riders on it’s design, as such the park is always evolving, but remains consistently challenging and exciting.

Out of Bounds

In the area, there is an ice skating pond, sledding, horseback riding, and sleigh rides. The great state of New Hampshire is a nature lover’s paradise full of trails to hike, mountains to climb, and lakes and rivers to fish. It’s also an adrenaline junkies playground, featuring activities such as off-roading, snowcatting, and snowmobiling. The Franconia Notch State Park is a winter wonderland with tubing, sleigh rides, and hot air balloon rides over the spectacular mountain scenery.

Hangout & Hookup

The Cannonball Pub in the Peabody Base Lodge is a hotspot for après ski and features a full menu, bar, and live entertainment on the weekends. If you’re into history, the New England Ski Museum is located right on the mountain.
