Riders Guide – The Fairmont Hot Springs is a popular resort that people especially enjoy in the winter because of the skiing and snow sports. The mountain has a top elevation of over 5,200 feet and a base elevation of 4,200 feet with about 60 skiable acres. That means that you might come to the Hot Springs to enjoy the healing waters but you can also enjoy a day on the slopes. The mountain has a 1,000 foot vertical drop and a few trails designed for advanced skiers. About 25% of the trails are designed for beginners and 15% are for advanced and experienced skiers. But 60% of the trails are intermediate, so it’s a good place for intermediate rider. There are 14 trails in total and the longest run is 1.1 miles. Expert riders might not feel terribly challenged by the slopes but the wonderful Hot Springs and the other winter activities in the area can make up for that. There are two lifts: a quad chair and a beginner quad chair.




Parks and Pipes – The Fairmont Hot Springs resort does have a wonderful terrain park complete with rails, boxes, jibs and jumps as well as a halfpipe for riders and freestyle skiers to enjoy. The park is largely designed for intermediate park riders, but has a number of more advanced features as well as smaller features to enjoy. Snowboard rentals and the ski school can help beginners learn the moves.




Out of Bounds – There are 12 km of cross-country ski trails and plenty of other winter time adventures to enjoy like ice boating, ice skating, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. The area’s mild climate makes it a popular outdoor destination. But by far the most popular activities when not on the slopes is enjoying a dip in the hot mineral springs.




Hangout & Hookup – The Lodge at Fairmont Hot Springs is designed for luxury and elegance with both high class and laid-back restaurants and lounges. There are other restaurants and bars in the area, but it is commonly agreed upon that visitors need look no further than the resort for the ideal après ski experience. The Bear’s Paw Lounge is a delightful and laid-back lounge overlooking the wonderful springs and beautiful mountain valley and is located right at the resort.




The Deal – Fairmont Hot Springs sits on Highway 93/95. The highway runs from the town of Golden all the way to Cranbrook on a paved road that’s easy to navigate even in the winter. It’s a straight highway unlike many of the steep and curving roads in the area. There is an airport right at Fairmont Hot Springs making it easy to get to, and the whole area is less than an hour away from the international airport at Cranbrook. It is just a few hours from the border, and 3 hours from Calgary.
