Ski Powder King Mountain Resort, BC

Although Powder King Mountain Resort isn’t one of the most talked about ski resorts in British Columbia, it’s one that should not be missed by people visiting the area. This resort is set in the Canadian Rockies and is a great place for families and children and those who are new to the sport. However, there are also enough challenging slopes and steep drops to make advanced skiers happy. While most of the terrain is designated for intermediate skiers the split up is almost even between all skill levels so no one should feel intimidated at this resort because there is plenty of terrain for everyone to enjoy.

It’s an easy place to get to because they have shuttles running from Prince George each day, but it’s far enough away and set back pretty far in to the mountain so there is a danger that the roads and the resort may be closed because of avalanche danger. So, if guests are willing to risk it and indulge in a more adventurous vacation, Powder King Mountain is the place to go

Dining on the mountain includes several options such as standard fare at the cafeteria, or enjoy a more elegant experience at the restaurant and lounge. The nearby town of Mackenzie, which is about an hour away, has a much wider selection of dining experiences. While there isn’t much in the way of shopping at the mountain, an extensive variety of shops and other attractions can be found in Mackenzie and Prince George.

It’s a great place to travel to as a family because there are so many beginner trails and other things to do like snowmobiling. There’s a fun, family friendly, atmosphere at the resort unlike some of the neighboring resorts that are designed mainly for advanced skiers, but it’s not so family oriented that adults can’t have a good time without children. Additionally, because it’s only 500 yards from the highway, it’s extremely convenient to reach and guests to the resort won’t have to spend much time in the car.

Nighttime activities at Powder King Mountain include après ski at the restaurant and lounge located slope side, as well as nearby pubs, taverns and bar and grill establishments around the area. Many people opt to stay in Prince George precisely because the nightlife is more exciting and there are more amenities available.
