Grand Targhee Resort takes great pride in its charming western hospitality, great value, and commitment to protecting the natural beauty and resources surrounding the resort. Ski Levels

The full-service resort provides guests the comforts of home with the luxury of a high-end ski vacation. The resort normally gets an astounding 500+ inches each season, which means powder runs start in mid-November and continue on well into April. This fantastic resort spans two mountains, has more than 2,500 acres of lift-served land, plus an additional 500 acres of backcountry. The more than 70 trails are catered to all ability levels of skiers, 10 percent is ideal for beginners, 70 percent is reserved for intermediate levels, and the remaining 20 percent is advanced/expert terrain. There are over 15 kilometers of Nordic skiing trails and snowcat and back-country tours available as well.

The Grand Targhee Ski & Snowboard School offers PSIA/AASI instruction at a tremendous value. Beginners rave about the Start Me Up package which utilizes patient and experienced instructors, beginner-specific equipment and carries out the lesson in a relatively remote area of the resort, far from the crowds. Children really enjoy the Mini Moose and Powder Scouts programs that guarantee a great student to teacher ratio and specialized instruction. Intermediate riders and skiers can book the Early Tracks program to give them unbridled early access to the mountain before anyone else. For more advanced skiers, there is a fabulous Junior and Masters Race School also taught by experienced professionals.

Après Ski

The lift ticket deals are extensive at Grand Targhee and many guests save money on buying multi-day and multi-mountain passes, plus it’s a great way to see more of the surrounding area. However, guests may prefer to stay at Grand Targhee as it is decidedly less crowded and busy than neighboring Teton Village. The slope side lodging at Grand Targhee is top-notch and offers its guests many amenities including daycare, ski and snowboard storage, and much more. Book early to receive the best rates on the plenitude of ski and stay specials offered during the season.

There is plenty to do off the slopes as well. Yellowstone National Park makes a great day trip, or stay nearby and take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, a variety of snowmobile tours, spend the day racing down the tubing hill or relax in an outdoor heated poor or hot tub. For the budding botanist, Grand Targhee partners with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest to offer wonderful and complimentary guided snowshoe adventures for those interested in the flora, fauna and geology of this beautiful region.

Rider’s Guide

Grand Targhee Resort receives a massive amount of snow each year, more than 500 inches, which helps ensure that the runs and backcountry stay in great condition. There are more than 2,500 acres, over 70 runs, and 500 additional acres of backcountry. The runs are suitable for all experience levels, and breaks out into 10 percent  beginner, 70 percent intermediate, and 20 percent advanced. Despite the plentiful snowfall, Grand Targhee has snowmaking abilities and grooms many of the runs nightly. As an added bonus, they offer several discounted lift tickets and great deals for multi-day and multi-mountain passes.

Parks and Pipes

North Pole Terrain Park is ideal for beginners and intermediates and provides an easy progression into the world of freestyle riding and skiing with smaller features and easier jumps. Trick Town is a bit more difficult, and boasts numerous features, including a table top, rainbow, flat down flat, flat down rails, plus much more. The Center Earth freestyle area is a dynamic and consistently changing playground focused almost exclusively on natural features and enhanced with frequent expert grooming.

Out of Bounds

Those seeking natural wonders can take a day trip to either Yellowstone National Park or Grand Teton National Park. There is also a snowtubing park, guided snowmobile tours over vast terrain, avalanche and backcountry clinics, and personally guided ice climbing tours. Those guests who seek rest and relaxation will love the resort’s full-service spa or the outdoor heated pools and hot tubs.

Hangout & Hookup

There are several eateries and bars located slope side. There are more casual style places as well as romantic gourmet restaurants. The Trap Bar and Grill is a wonderful après ski spot and often boasts great live music. Targhee definitely has a mellow après ski scene, guests looking for more action should head to the nearby the village of Jackson which has a diverse and active afterhours scene and provides plenty of fun nighttime activities.
