Apex Mountain in British Columbia offers 68 trails with 18 percent of the runs designed for the most extreme skiers and riders. Another 18 percent are reserved for advanced skiers and riders and 16 percent of the runs are ideal for beginners. The remaining 48 percent of the trails are designed for moderate and intermediate skiers. There are four lifts, including a high-speed detachable quad, a magic carpet for beginners, a T-bar, and a triple chairlift. In all, there is over 1,100-skiable acres with a base elevation of over 5,000 feet. The resort has won numerous accolades, including “Canada’s Best Small Destination” and since it’s a little off the beaten path visitors can expect short wait times and plenty of wide-open spaces.
Orange Park is designed for competitions with big jumps on one side and big rails on the other. Snowmaking guns cover the park so that it can open early each season and stay open later. Apex features a Snow Sport and Adventure Centre that includes the ski and snowboarding school as well as a kids club called Rippin Rascals. There are over 35 miles of trails for cross-country skiing. On the weekends the Tim Horten Tube Park is open and a perfect activity for everyone. there is also an NHL sized hockey rink and an outdoor Zomboni-maintained skate track.
Rather than the huge, overwhelming resort atmosphere typical at many larger BC resorts, the crowds at Apex Mountain are small and the staff is friendly.
