Steamboat Ski Vacation Guide

For a great ski vacation this year in the middle of the Colorado Rockies, Steamboat Springs (also known as Ski Town U.S.A.) is one of the best places you can go on a ski vacation. Every year thousands of skiers flock to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, as the entire state boasts some of the best skiing weather and general conditions in the country.

Ski Levels

The resort area is set at 7,000 feet, below one of the largest ski mountains in North America. The ski resort is not too far removed from its surrounding ranching life style and traditions and the people will give you a warm western reception. More Winter Olympians have come from here than any other resort in all of North America and with the size and range of trails, half pipes, and features, it is no wonder the resort is spread across six peaks. There are around 1,000 acres of open glades, powdered tree runs, moguls, and bowls, which are all skiable terrain. The mountain offers over 3,600 vertical feet between the top and bottom, making it possible for you to enjoy truly epic runs. Even if you are just a beginning skier, you will have a great time. When you want to learn the basics of skiing or just develop your skills to a higher level, Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School is one of the best in the country, with former Olympians working as instructors and giving you the best advice on how to train and improve your form. Finally, the resort is home to Mavericks, the longest superpipe in North America. For people who really want to get the best skiing experience and have a great time on some of the most diverse yet well groomed slopes in the country, this ski area is one of the best places to ski on earth.

Après Ski

The area offers a great range of nightlife, restaurants, and clubs for you to enjoy. Start planning your next ski experience getaway and get great deals for a stay at this legendary ski location in the heart of the Rocky Mountains! It is also known for being a resort that combines a large skiing and snowboarding area with a friendly and laid-back local atmosphere, so you’ll relax, dine well, and play hard in Steamboat Springs.

Steamboat Snowboard Vacation Guide

Riders Guide

A huge resort with 18 lifts, including one gondola and six high-speed chairlifts, with access to 165 trails. You can enjoy 343 inches of legendary champagne powder on trails rated 14 percent beginner, 44 percent intermediate, and 42 percent expert.

Parks and Pipes

The mountain has long standing tradition of producing top-notch winter sports athletes and this continues into the next generation. The Steamboat Parks & Pipes crew has created four progressive terrain parks for all ages and ability levels. Begin your adventure in the Lil’ Rodeo Terrain Park at base of the ski area where the smallest jumps and jib features can be found, so you can work your way up to the big stuff “easy style.” If you prefer speed to metal and air, head over to the Sunbeam Terrain Park in Rendezvous Saddle and take a run through the snow-cross style natural park. After mastering the basics, hit the Rabbit Ears Terrain Park featuring small to medium size jumps, beginner jibs and rails, and the ever popular Mini Mav—a slightly scaled down 250-foot long, 10-foot high mini-pipe version of the Mavericks Superpipe. Finally, show off your skills in the Mavericks Superpipe and Terrain Park, where you’ll find the state-of-the-art Zaugg cut, an 18-foot high monster of a pipe that is made for huge fun. If you’d rather catch air on a jump, the Steamboat Parks & Pipes crew is constantly dialing in features for the perfect shape and feel. Mavericks has more advanced jib features as well as a massive quarter pipe.
