Eldora Mountain - Boulder

Boulder, the foothills suburb northwest of Denver is a gateway to some of the very best Eastern Slope skiing in Colorado. As famous for its snow as for John Denver and "Rocky Mountain High," the state of Colorado has more ski resort choices than anywhere else in the world. This progressive college town makes a fine base camp to exploring those alpine destinations.

Day Trips to Skiing

Eldora Mountain Resort is just 21 miles from Boulder and 47 miles from Denver. It's a smaller mountain compared to other ski resorts in Colorado with a vertical of 1,600 feet, but it has plenty to offer, including downhill skiing, terrain parks for snowboarding, over 40 kilometers of cross-country trails that can also be used for snowshoe hiking. It's 680 acres of skiable terrain are spread across seven beginner trails, 28 intermediate trails, 10 black diamond, and eight double black diamond trails.

Eldora also offers a truly great ski school that gives you an extra incentive to head to their mountain instead of others in the state. You and your kids will get special attention and improve throughout the day and will feel more comfortable on the mountain. The four terrain parks on the mountain will also keep the kids entertained and more interested in the sport.

Off the Slopes

In addition, the amenities in Boulder are top notch. Head to Pearl Street for dinner, drinks, dancing, concerts, and people watching. You'll find talented street musicians and a countless number of shops and dining options. All in all, if you are heading to Colorado and you want to avoid the crowded mountain towns, Boulder is a great option for a different type of winter experience, with plenty to do and see away from the busy I-70.
