Crystal Mountain

Crystal Mountain ski resort has the special distinction of being Washington’s largest ski area—and in a state that is known for a great selection of ski and snowboard resort facilities, this is really saying something! All in all, the mountain is home to around 2,600 acres.

Operating for Fifty Years

This massive ski area is filled with more than 50 named runs and plenty of other smaller slopes and paths. Of the 2,600 plus acres of terrain, a full 2,300 acres are serviced by lifts. You can explore the remaining 300 back-country acres by putting on your snowshoes or skins and hiking to the less accessible parts of the mountain. The resort also gives you an incredible amount of vertical distance. The base elevation of the ski lodge is 4,400 feet (although the Lower Northway Shuttle Stop is lower, at 3,912 feet). The Silver King Summit is at 7,012 feet elevation, for a difference of over 3,000 feet vertical rise from top to bottom. This is over twice the vertical distance of many ski resorts and just another great example of how this mountain gives you so much more. Read about the area with Ski Experience and about the terrain parks with Snowboarding Zone.

Off the Slopes

The resort has three lodgings options so you can stay super close to the slopes, wake up, and ski! In addition, the area is filled with cabins, condos, and vacation homes. There are over 10 mountain dining options, where you can choose from gourmet burgers, tasty sandwiches, breakfast, and even dine in Washington's highest elevated restaurant. Once you arrive, the convenient Snow Bus will take you around the mountain area and you can even buy a pass along with your lift ticket at a discounted cost.

Getting Here

Located a less than 100 miles from Seattle, it's best to enjoy the scenery and take your time. Be sure to check the roads before you travel, as access from the east is often closed during the winter months. Drive south on I-5, and take exit 142A to Auburn, follow Hwy 164 toward Enumclaw and Hwy 410 east for 33 miles before entering Mount Rainier National Park. Head six miles on Crystal Mountain Blvd. to the resort.
