Silver Star Mountain Resort Ski Vacation Guide

If you're after one place that has it all, Silver Star is an excellent choice for an awesome ski vacation experience.

Ski Levels

The mountain has a vast variety of terrain, 20 percent beginner's trails, 50 percent intermediate, and 30 percent advanced and expert runs. Virtually all of Silver Star's Putnam Creek area is black diamond, both the front and backside. Vance Creek Peak has a series of vertical front side faces as well. In short, there's more than 3,000 acres to play on, across and down and it’s all covered in some of the very finest powder in the world.

As an added bonus for visitors there are dual lift ticket deals that let you go to both Silver Star and Big White Mountain. Talk about more bang for your buck. Even the most experienced skiers will be hard pressed to take in that many trails during one vacation.

Silver Star is really well laid out for skiers and riders. No matter which lift you go up on, there are beginner and intermediate runs from the top of the mountain, and clearly marked trails that are very easy to navigate. The backside of Putnam Creek is famous for its challenging vertical runs and there are several areas that are ideal for beginners and smaller skiers.

One of the great things about Silver Star is the people. The staff really care that guests enjoy themselves and have a memorable stay. Few places have so many compliments about their staff. Silver Star’s past guests rave about times when the staff went above and beyond to drive guest’s home, to follow up on a request during their own time and much more. Guests and staff at Silver Star are always having a great time and generally walking around with grins on their faces.

Après Ski

In fact, Silver Star was named the “Best Place to Learn from the Pros” by Ski Canada magazine. The instructors will have visitors gliding down that pristine powder in no time at all, having a great, fun, safe time. As a beginner, it’s extremely important to dress right, bring light layers of clothing, a breathable waterproof outer shell, a hat that covers your ears, and a good sense of humor. The folks at Silver Star will be able to provide the rest, from rental gear to the best professional instruction.

Another boon to Silver Star is the weather. When the 23 feet of dry powder isn’t falling, Silver Star experiences sunny days with deep blue skies and an average daytime temperature of 27 degrees F., just enough below freezing to keep the powder dry! Silver Star is an absolutely stunning resort. Great terrain, fantastic amenities, fabulous weather and some of the friendliest staff in the nation are just a few of the many reasons why year after year people flock to Silver Star. It’s a premier ski resort without pretension.
