Terrain Parks - Timberline

Riders Guide

Timberline Resort is described as one of the best snowboarding spots in the South, providing boarders with plenty of land and plenty of air. Timberline Resort in Canaan Valley, West Virginia has over 100 acres of land as well as 100% snowmaking ability, but with more than 200 inches of snow annually, it hardly seems necessary. There are 36 slopes and trails, 34% beginner, 32% intermediate, 14% advanced, and 20% expert. Over 1000 feet of vertical drop translates into serious speed, especially on the Salamander, Timberline’s massive 2 mile run.

Parks and Pipes

Timberline features two terrain parks complete with rails, boxes, and jumps. Snowboarders interested in showing off what they’ve got can participate in one of the four different Rail Jam competitions put on by the park throughout the season.

Out of Bounds

There are ski and snowboard lessons available, taught by experienced instructors whose goal is to help teach the fundamentals and hone specific skills. The resort also features over 17 km of cross-country skiing, which offers a nice, leisurely alternative to boarding.

Hangout & Hookup

Locals recommend heading to the Blackwater Brewing Company and the Golden Anchor Restaurant, located 7 miles from the resort in Davis. The perfect après-ski drinks and entertainment can be found at the Port Side Pub and at Muttley’s Downtown Pub, both located close to the mountain, and if you don’t want to get too far from the action check out Timber’s Pub, a slope side restaurant and bar that features karaoke and live entertainment on the weekends.
