Shawnee Mountain

Known as the Pocono’s favorite ski resort, Shawnee Mountain is a long-time family favorite for East Coasters. Nestled in the gorgeous Pocono Mountain range, surrounded by lush alpine forests, charming streams, and crystal clear lakes, it’s no surprise this region is Pennsylvania’s largest tourist attraction with more than eight million visitors annually.

Remains a Hidden Gem

The ski area is renowned for its small crowds and affordability. Fortunately, many tourists remain in the dark about Shawnee Mountain, a hidden gem in the heart of the Pocono’s. Located near East Stroudsburg, the resort has something to offer everyone. From simple and safe beginner’s runs to challenging expert runs, fun can be had by all, regardless of experience level. This intimate resort has 10 lifts to take guests to 23 trails, which are divided as follows: 25 percent beginner, 50 percent intermediate, and 25 percent expert. There are two terrain parks, Bushkill Park & beginner’s Incubator Park. Both parks feature boxes, rollers, spines, stairs, table tops, rails, and massive sound systems.

Off the Slopes

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area is a no-frills resort that focuses its attention on maintaining their wonderfully groomed trails and runs. However, those interested in other activities will be delighted with their six-chute tubing park. There are also a myriad of activities to be found in the nearby towns of Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg such as shopping, theatres, museums, and cafes.

You'll also find plenty of dining options right on the mountain, with different two cafeteria-style lodges, a snack bar, and the family friendly restaurant of Hickory Licks. These options provide delicious and affordable meals to keep your family energized and ready for more outdoor fun. There are also many restaurants in town, featuring Thai, Italian, Peruvian, as well as a wide array of other international cuisine. Unfortunately, there is no slope-side lodging, but there are plenty of options to choose from in Stroudsburg or East Stroudsburg. Many lodging options in the area work in conjunction with the resort to offer great ski and stay packages.
