Sugar Mountain

This is a great family friendly resort in North Carolina. Set in a beautiful wooded area of the western part of the state, the resort is an ideal winter vacation destination.

Family Mountain – Something for Everyone

The resort houses an impressive variety of facilities and services and the mountain hosts many fun activities, events, and concerts throughout the season. Sugar Bear, the resort’s mascot, is often found around the slopes having a good time and engaging with the smaller guests teaching them that safety is paramount and that skiing is, above all, about fun.

Off the Slopes

There are a lot of other activities throughout the season, including a 10,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink. There are several great events, including March Madness and Sugarfest, a weekend-long activity-filled festival, perfect for the whole family.  At the base lodge guests will find a full-service retail ski and snowboard shop, a rental shop, ticket sales, equipment rentals, two large cafeterias, and The Last Run Lounge. Additionally, there is a group sales kiosk, day care center, locker rooms, and a candy shop for snacks.

Located slope side are two large cafeterias with an impressive menu ranging from soups, sandwiches, salads and much more. The Last Run Lodge is also a great option and offers hearty meals and a satisfying array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The surrounding towns of Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk also have a great array of dining options. There is a little bit of everything from casual American cuisine to high end, five star cuisines. There is something for everyone.

The Village of Sugar Mountain and surrounding areas offers a variety of lodging choices. There are several great accommodations just minutes from the ski area that offer heavily discounted room rates throughout the winter and offer great deals on ski and stay packages. There’s everything from intimate bed and breakfasts, economical one and two bedroom condos, to gorgeous Swiss-style chalets featuring native stone fireplaces and unlimited ambience. Whatever the budget or preference guests will find a lovely home base from which to explore the scenic mountainous area.
