This winter retreat sits on the border of Massachusetts and its neighbor to the west, the great state of New York. Technically speaking, one could say they went on a multi-state ski vacation after visiting Catamount. It’s got a great range of terrain that is sure to challenge every level of skier and rider. The ski area is also extremely affordable and well groomed, two added bonuses.

A Western Massachusett Ski Resort

This mountain offers 1,000 feet of vertical and a top elevation of 2,000 feet. There is access to more than 32 trails spread out over 128 acres. Catamount also has the longest run in the Berkshires, its two-mile long trail and spans the entire thousand vertical feet. These trails offer easy going or challenging adventures, depending on your preference, and after a day on the slopes you can enjoy any of the dining and après-ski activity options in and around the area. The three terrain parks and 400-foot halfpipe accommodates riders and freestyle skiers of all ages and abilities and is one of the best in all of New England. Catamount also offers some of the most extensive ski school options in the Berkshires. Whether you’re a novice to the slopes or just need a fine-tuning, the ski school will have skiers and riders performing their best in no time.

Off the Slopes

From budget hotels and motels, to historic inns, luxury lodges, rental homes and romantic bed and breakfasts, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets. The dining options are also greatly varied. There is delicious food available at the lodge as well as in the surrounding area. The area boasts a wide array of culinary delights from casual American fare to fancier, locally grown cuisine. There is something for everyone to enjoy both on the slopes and off.

Getting Here

The resort is only a matter of hours from New York City, 45 miles from Albany, and 55 miles from Hartford, Connecticut. It’s a great, family-friendly resort in the beautiful Berkshires, it’s convenient to reach and tons of fun once you arrive.
