Windham Mountain

Windham Mountain is a remarkable family friendly resort in eastern New York. Known for its incredible beauty, fabulous moguls, and seriously steep runs, the mountain caters to riders of all experience levels.

Visit Eastern New York

This mountain has a relatively even distribution of runs, 30 percent beginner, 45 percent intermediate, and 25 percent for expert and advanced. Windham also boasts a fleet of highly qualified ski and snowboard instructors who teach a variety of lessons for all ages and experience levels. The resort offers 46 trails on 267 acres. There are 10 lifts that take visitors all around the mountain, including to Windham’s five terrain parks. The resort has some of the best snowmaking capabilities in the East, so conditions are always ideal for skiers and snowboarders. The resort has the Big Air Bag, which is an interesting interpretation of the fall cushions that stuntmen use, the Bag lets riders practice big air and jumps in a safe and controlled manner, plus it’s pretty fun to watch.

Off the Slopes

The Winwood Inn is a popular slope side-lodging option, and is widely reputed as being both affordable and family friendly. However, there are a vast array of other lodging options in the area from budget motels and hotels to historic inns and upscale condominiums. There is also plenty of dining options available right at the resort, including the Rock’n Mexicana Cantina + Grill, the Wunderbar Café, the Waffle Cabin, and the Patio BBQ. The town of Windham is nearby and also offers some delightful places to dine. A fantastic après ski, slope-side spot is Legend’s Bar and Grill, which offers a wonderful selection of beer, wine, and spirits. There is plenty of activities in the area besides skiing and snowboarding, try some ice skating, snowshoeing, and snow tubing.

Getting Here

The mountain is only two hours away from New York City, Westchester County, and Long Island. Albany is less than an hour away. Located in the Northern Catskill Mountains, getting to Windham is an easy drive on major highways. Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 21. Then take Route 23 West, which will lead directly to Windham. The resort also works with several bus companies to offer a convenient and eco-friendly way to get to the resort.
