Tuxedo Ridge

Tuxedo Ridge is the closest ski resort to New York City, which means it's a convenient place to enjoy winter snow sports when you're in the area. Or make a special trip to Tuxedo Ridge just for some wintertime fun.

Skiing Near the Big Apple

Located in Sterling Forest, it's part of the Ramapo Mountain Range and is in the part of the range called Tiger Mountain. The Ridge offers seven exciting trails with 100 percent snowmaking over all the available ski area. The four double chairlifts keep you moving up the mountain, and the longest trail, at a little over half a mile, will keep you moving down it. A terrain park and a tubing park offer extra excitement. About 70 percent of the trails at Tuxedo Ridge are for intermediate skiers, but there are beginning trails to help new skiers.

Off the Slopes

Aside from the Tuxedo Ridge Lodge, you can choose to stay at nearby inns, bed & breakfasts or a variety of both fine and quaint hotels. Many inns are lakeside country inns, while there are 4- and 5-star hotels options, as well. Ski vacation packages offered at Tuxedo Ridge and nearby motels and inns often offer things like ski & stay packages and free lift tickets and meal coupons with lodging.

Night skiing, a race academy, and a tubing park make big fun for families. At the base of the snow tubing park at the Rainbow Trail, a snow playground is perfect for kids who love snow. A top quality ski school with top-rates instructors offers skiing and snowboarding instruction. Tuxedo Ridge ski resort in southern New York State makes for a perfect family ski vacation destination or weekend get-a-way ski trip.

Getting Here

Shortline buses run from the Port Authority to Tuxedo Ridge. Metro-north and New Jersey transit trains stop at the Tuxedo station, and the resort will even pick you up at the Tuxedo train station on weekends if given a three-day notice. Driving is easy from New Jersey, as Tuxedo Ride is just over the New Jersey state line in Sterling Forest State Park. Tuxedo Ridge is only 50 miles from the Lincoln Tunnel and 35 miles from the George Washington Bridge.
