In the Reno area, guests can find top quality ski resorts like Mt. Rose and Diamond Peak. Mt. Rose has the highest base elevation in the North Lake Tahoe area and some of the steepest chutes around. With skiing, tubing, and snowboarding in great terrain parks, the ski area just 25 miles from Reno is an excellent ski and ride destination.

Ski Levels

The Mount Rose Ski and Snowboard School helps instill a lifelong love of snow sports for everyone from first-timers to seasoned pros. Their professional staff offers daily classes for all ages and private lessons for ages 11 and over. Lessons and rentals can be purchased all in one stop on the lower level of the main lodge. It’s a great way to spend a day and will guarantee a more enriched experience on the mountain.

An excellent array of skill levels are represented on the mountain, including 20 percent for beginners, 30 percent for intermediates, 40 percent for advanced, and 10 percent expert rated. Even if guests are a little rusty or have never before stepped foot on a mountain, there is plenty of interesting runs and challenging terrain. However, the design of the slopes largely caters to intermediate and somewhat advanced levels. Be sure to study the trail map and know exactly what you can handle before venturing out to areas like The Chutes.

Après Ski

The entire area is chock full of great shops, restaurants, and things to do. Stop for a breakfast or lunch at one of the dozens of diners, restaurants, or home-style eateries in the area. Shops sell delicious home-baked goods, candies, souvenirs, sporting goods, clothing and sundries. The “Biggest Little City in the World” has great casinos, bars, and entertainment. The North Lake Tahoe / Reno region doesn't just offer casino and adult entertainment; there are a variety of other winter sports like snow tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating and more available for families and kids in the area.

Nightlife can be anything from quiet après-ski in front of a crackling fireplace to clubs with live music, dancing, and international cocktails. Casinos are open whenever guests are ready to gamble, and a variety of live entertainment in the area make North Lake Tahoe a great place to enjoy the snow during the day and be entertained at night. Guests may choose to stay in Reno and take the shuttle to the resort during the day for skiing and riding. Convenience and simplicity are part of what make a vacation here so desirable.
