Spirit Mountain - Duluth

Duluth rests on the majestic shores of the western-most point of Lake Superior. Mountains rise majestically from the water to provide you with a truly exceptional ski resort, Spirit Mountain. The resort is located just off of interstate I-35 at the edge of town. With Duluth located at the Minnesota-Wisconsin border and a mere 150 miles from Canada, you just know there is great snow, plenty to see and do, and a great après-ski scene in store.

On the Mountain Overlooking Duluth

Spirit Mountain begins making snow as early as the weather permits, and often opens by mid December, providing you with an outstanding blanket of white cotton snow to carve in, as well as some of the most picturesque views anywhere in the country. An aspect of the city of Duluth, visitors to the mountain are thrilled to find well-planned terrain parks and trails for both beginning to the more experienced skiers and snowboarders. The conditions are ripe for great snow—the kind you usually only find in Canadian coastal mountains. With 700 well-planned vertical feet to ski on and cross-country trails to explore, everyone tends to have a great time at Spirit Mountain.

The Spirit Mountain Nordic Ski Center offers 22 kilometers of cross-country skiing on maintained beautifully wooded trails that are double tracked with skating lanes that are groomed daily. This is a cross-country skier’s paradise. Trails are open daily from 9:00 AM until dusk.

Off the Slopes

When the day on the slopes is done, you're literally minutes from downtown Duluth and a plethora of hotspots for après ski. There's something for everyone, from family fun options to dancing to live music, cultural events, and restaurants ranging from quick eats to fine dining. People drive from as far as Minneapolis and even Canada for some of the exceptional chef's dishes found in Duluth's restaurants. If you'd like an after-dinner walk, stroll through town and take in all the sights, sounds, and scenic pleasures this unique city on the Great Lake has to offer. If you are looking for some gaming action there is the Fond-du-Luth Casino, located in the heart of downtown Duluth. The casino is run the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

Of course a ski resort like Spirit has a well-trained and experienced crew of ski patrol, ski and snowboarding instructors on their staff. These professionals are no strangers to teaching, they can get beginners up and having a blast in no time, and give intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders valuable tips and pointers. The entire ski area’s staff is dedicated to friendly service with a smile, and genuinely enjoys sharing their wonderful mountain with guests.

Night skiing is yet another feature here. The fun doesn't have to stop when the sun sets. You can keep at it going until 9 pm. Business visitors to Duluth will be especially pleased to know that there's night skiing pass for individuals and special packages for families as well. From the top of the mountain, enjoy the slopes and the view, of the shoreline city lights of Duluth below. Day or night, Spirit Mountain is one sweet spot to be for your Midwest ski vacation.
