Ski Experience – Brundage Mountain

Ski & Ride Guide

From rolling hill trails to extreme rock slides, if you can name it, Brundage can claim it. Lots of snowfall produces snow filled glades, corduroy trails and many natural jumps that backs Brundage’s reputation for the Best Snow in Idaho.  With a diverse trail system and acres upon acres of guided backcountry, there’s something for every skier, from beginner to advance.

Brundage’s season spans from Thanksgiving thru mid-April and its summit sits at 7,640 feet with a 1,800-foot vertical.  There are 5 lifts including a high speed quad which serve nearly 1,500 in-bounds terrain and close to 19,000 guided backcountry via snowcat. The lifts open at 9:30, due to the relaxed pace at the mountain, but you will not have to wait in long lift lines, if you have to wait at all.

There are about 46 named trails that are allocated 20% to beginners, 50% for intermediate skiers, and 30% of the marked trails are designated advanced.  The longest trail, Temptation cruises for 2+-miles, and the Meadow Bowl is a beginner’s playground.  When you are ready for ungroomed territory, the Hidden Valley, Dixie and Ranger Trail glades offers some of the purest snow to be found in the state.

Ski and snowboard lessons are available for beginner skiers and riders, and guided snow cat skiing in the Payette National Forest is a bucket-list experience for experienced skiers.

Après Ski

In the nearby resort town of McCall, there are many dining, shopping and entertainment options to choose from. This includes suite lodging in McCall with all the accoutrements – a full service spa, lake view dining, and an après lounge plus more to get into. Before evening activities, skiers can unwind by taking a dip in the hot tub overlooking the lake. Then, after a bite to eat and some drink, browse the  shops, enjoy the town happenings, or perhaps take in a movie.

Family Friendly Activities

Brundage is an ideal mountain for families because it offers diverse terrain at affordable rates with no crowds. The Drive-Up Kid’s Center has proven to be a valuable resource to help families enjoy hassle-free arrangements for children’s lessons or day care. The Kid’s Center is conveniently connected to The Bear Chair. This provides learners with access to the Easy Street learning area that offers both beginning and advanced beginner’s terrain, ensuring that students get the most out of their instruction. Daycare is available for children as young as 6 weeks to older children up to 8 years old if they want to take it easy for the day.

Terrain Parks – Brundage Mountain

Parks & Pipes

Brundage Mountain offers two terrain parks with many progressive features to give both the beginning and advanced riders the chance to test new skills and build confidence.  The Bear Park is the beginner’s area designed to help riders try and practice with smaller, user-friendly jumps and rails before progressing to the Deadwood Shred Park.  The Deadwood Shred Park can be found off the BlueBird quad.  And in true Brundage style, lots of natural materials are used to capture the plentiful snow that shapes the terrain and creates the features.
