Alpine Meadows

Near Alpine Meadows, you will find an intimate resort at North Lake Tahoe. In an area replete with enormous, glitzy resorts, Alpine Meadows is a breath of fresh air offering a warm and friendly, mom and pop type resort. Bordered by the pristine Lake Tahoe, snow blanketed alpine forests, and stunning mountain peaks, this idyllic and welcoming resort is a great ski destination in Northern California.

One Pass—Three Mountains

The front side of the mountain is less steep and perfect for beginners and intermediates while the backside of the mountain is brimming with steeps and challenging terrain. The resort has more than 2,400 acres, over 100 runs and seven bowls. The resort also houses Sherwood Bowl, which is some of the best open powder terrain in the entire region. With an average annual snowfall of 495 inches, powder runs abound, and guests have the privilege of enjoying some of the best out of bound skiing in all of California. There are also a several terrain parks suitable for all levels of snowboarder and freestyle skier. The Dance Floor is the advanced park with a rail garden on red ridge and the best jump line in the basin. There is also the Sneaky Wease, Roo Ridge, and Tiegel that offer smaller features and less extreme terrain for intermediate and beginner riders. Read about the Ski experience and the terrain parks. And with the Tahoe Super Pass Plus, you can take a short shuttle and ski Sierra-at-Tahoe and Squaw Valley as well!

Off the Slopes

There is plenty of lodging in the area to suit all tastes and budgets. Lively casino hotels, secluded private cabins, luxury condominiums or premiere vacation homes, the area has a glut of accommodation options. Since the options are so plentiful many offer great ski and stay packages throughout the winter to lure potential guests. The resort has a cozy day lodge and inside the lodge are several cafeterias, cafes, a bar, lockers, a storage facility, a ski and snowboard repair and rental shop, an indoor kid’s area, as well as a beautiful sun soaked deck that offers visitors unbeatable views.

The area also offers a host of activities from snowshoeing and cross-country skiing and snowtubing to ice skating, a trip to the day spa and much more. The area is transformed in to an idyllic snowy paradise each and every season. Visitors come from all over the world to experience premiere skiing and, great lodging, and bounteous amenities.

Getting Here

Alpine Meadows is about 200 miles from San Francisco. Take Interstate 80 driving east to Truckee, California, and take the State Route 89 south exit. After 10 miles, and take a right on Alpine Meadows Road. Follow this three miles to the resort. Or fly into Reno and drive Interstate 80 east to Truckee, only 45 miles.
