Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain forgoes the gimmicks in favor of good old-fashioned skiing. But classic skiing isn’t the only thing it’s famous for – it’s also known for it’s unbeatable value. SKI Magazine readers have voted it number one for best value in the country. The resort has become something of the people’s mountain.

Massive and Unconventional

Brace Yourself—there are 7,000 skiable acres, the most of any resort in the United States. Not all is reachable by lift. The terrain ranges from casual cruisers to spine-tingling steeps, not to mention some of the most legendary backcountry in the state. The slopes and bowls can be accessed in a myriad of ways, 2,800 acres can be reached by lifts, and the only way back to the resort after skiing and snowboarding an additional 1,200 acres is by pick-up from the Powder Country Shuttle. Snowcats and Wolf Canyon Tours transport guests to the remaining acreage. While transportation around the ski area may seem fairly unconventional, the assortment of options helps to reduce lift lines and maximize guests’ exposure to the miles of terrain. Don’t worry, there’s loads of terrain parks as well.

The prospects of such a large resort might seem daunting to newbies and families with young children. However, the resort is more than equipped to facilitate novices. The top-notch ski school uses adaptive techniques to teach children that the mountain is fun and exciting. There are also lessons for older children and adults, the lessons are catered to all ability and experience levels. Read more about the ski experience for the whole family. Additionally, there is a full-service ski and snowboard repair and rental shop, a variety of exciting back-country tours, and more.
