Die hard Sierra fans don’t want fancy shops or fine-dining on the mountain, they want a pure mountain escape, they want snow, steeps and trees, and terrain parks.
Sierra Nevada Mountains
The resort is located on the western edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which makes it the closest major resort to Sacramento. Its optimal position on the eastern side ensures that the storms coming in from the ocean head straight towards the resort. These storms deliver an average of 480 inches of snowfall each year. Plus, the predominately north-facing slopes help to keep the snow in great condition, even days after a storm. In line with its purist philosophy, there is no slope-side lodging, but there is an incredible assortment of lodging options around the ski resort including lively casino hotels, quiet cabins, secluded lodges, or spacious condominiums and vacation rental homes. The resort does have a nice selection of restaurants and casual eateries on the mountain.
Getting Here
Easy to get to and always welcoming. Located approximately 1.5 hours from Reno, the resort is accessible by several major highways and has a ride-share program. There are also shuttle services from South Lake Tahoe and chartered buses available.
