Powderhorn Mountain Grand Junction
The Grand Valley, located on Colorado’s western slope, is an amazing place to visit. Located at the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers, 28 miles east of the Utah border, Grand Junction is a modern oasis in the desert. Off the Slopes
The Grand Valley offers unlimited recreational opportunities, from mountain biking and fishing to rock climbing, horseback riding and camping. River rafting enthusiasts and kayakers love to tackle the Colorado River. Skiing and snowboarding are extremely popular activities. The Bookcliffs Mountains form the northern wall and stretch well into Utah. The Wild Horse Range lies north and it is home to one of the last remaining herds in the country. Long-time residents truly covet a glimpse of even a few of these magnificent horses. On the west end of the valley, Fruita is a popular destination for mountain bikers and visitors seeking to explore the Colorado National Monument.
The Grand Junction downtown area is a huge attraction for visitors because of its unique charm. Visit boutiques, restaurants, galleries, antique furniture stores and coffee shops. “Art on the Corner” is an outdoor sculpture exhibit in the award-winning Downtown Shopping Park where sculptors loan their work free of charge for one year. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner becomes a special occasion at any one of the fine restaurants in the downtown area. The charming town of Palisade is home to world-renown fruit orchards and vegetable farms—more than a dozen varieties of peaches are grown here and bing cherries, tomatoes, peas, green beans, apricots, plums, and locally grown apples may all be purchased, in season, at dozens of roadside fruit stands.
