Powder Mountain’s Largest Ski Expansion Includes Skier Cap

Powder Mountain Resort in Utah can keep a secret, a big secret. According to Forbes, “the largest lift-serviced resort expansion in North American history,” has been kept under wraps.

And what a secret! The expansion includes two chair lifts that add more than 1,000 acres of accessible terrain for an incredible total of 8,464 acres to ski. The new lifts in Lefty’s Canyon and Mary’s Bowl are scheduled to open in mid-December. There are also six miles of new road.

Some of the roads will lead to a new town center that is in the works. It has views of the Great Salt Lake, and is modeled on the Swiss town of Wengen. It will be about the size of the historical districts of Telluride and Aspen. The main street will have small apartments, farm-to-table restaurants and businesses that offer training in yoga, transcendental meditation, and other disciplines.

The town and the entire ski resort are eco-friendly. Powder Mountain is going 100% plastic water bottle free. There will be bottle filling stations scattered on the mountain and town.

The icing on the Powder Mountain cake is the number of ski passes that are available for this ski season. Only 1,000 adult season passes are available, and adult day passes are limited to 2,000 a day. That averages out to about one skier per acre!

Whether you are a novice or an advanced skier, Powder Mountain will offer you just what you’re looking for, and a lot of space to do it in. And for the adventurous, there is snowcat and heli-skiing.

Now that the secret is out of the bag, come to Powder Mountain and see what the United States’ largest lift-served ski area has to offer.
