Mammoth Mountain – Open and Ready!

Mammoth Mountain has just opened for its 60th year with several trails and lifts open to skiers and boarders. Within a few weeks, a whole lot more will be open at this awesome California ski resort. With 300 days of sunshine and 400 inches of annual snowfall, this is a resort to add to the Must Ski List. Start this year and experience 3,500 acres of terrain, 19 miles of cross-country and snowshoe trails, and endless amounts of family or group adventures. Because of its elevation (11,053 feet) and its huge amounts of snow fall, this resort often stays open until June each year, so you have plenty of time to plan a trip.

Due to its location, it’s best to plan a longer vacation to Mammoth Mountain by flying into the area from Los Angeles. It’s over 300 miles from San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Southern California, so driving is always a scenic option, but flying in will make the best out of your winter vacation. Once there, you will not need to rent a car! The entire area has awesome transit shuttle that runs to/from the mountain and Village area throughout the day and into the evening.

We like Mammoth because of its secluded feel away from other resort areas. But also because you won’t lack opportunities to dine at authentic restaurants, shop in an incredible setting, or visit the spa. There are plenty of great options. And the Eastern Sierras is seriously stacked with mountain activities and a welcomed family family resort. Anyone heading that way this Thanksgiving will enjoy a weekend of activities like free concerts. It’s not too late to grab awesome lodging discounts and save on a Mammoth Mountain getaway.
