Why You Should Visit Killington Ski Resort

The small town of Killington, Vermont is home to one of the state’s favorite mountain ski areas. The town is made up of just over 1,000 full-time residents, and these welcoming locals know they got a good thing going with 100 restaurants, quaint shops and art galleries, and the beauty that central Vermont’s mountainous landscape provides as their everyday backdrop.  Just off the Appalachian Trail in the Green Mountains, Killington welcomes guests year round, but the ski resort is something of a legend among East Coast skiers and boarders.

Their 3,000 acres expands across seven mountain peaks and the backcountry is so diverse, the resort rescued 49 skiers just last year. For your safety, the resort recently announced 745 acres of new terrain so that, if you are interested, you can experience that backcountry without wandering too far away from the resort base. But for those wanting to stay inbounds, it’s not like you’ll be lacking whatsoever for things to do and trails to ski. Enjoy all things snow related with 250 inches of natural snowfall a year. Take a hike snowshoeing, discover cross-country trails, or for a faster adventure, try out a snowmobile tour. On mountain the kids can play at the resort’s three terrain parks and also the lift-served tubing park.  And for a unique experience, take a snowcat ride up the mountain and have dinner at their famous Ledgewood Yurt. Simply unique, Killington Ski Resort delivers you to a winter playground every level of ski enthusiast will enjoy.
