Plus, family-friendly ski resorts plan fun activities for all ages in the week leading up to Christmas.

Winter Park Ski Resort is known as being one of Colorado’s favorite ski resorts for families. If you spend your Christmas holiday at Winter Park, here are a few of the things you can look forward to.

Campfire Sing-A-Long – Every Wednesday at 4:00 beginning on December 16th you can enjoy singing along to classic campfire songs at the Village Gazebo. This fun time is a great way to end a day of skiing.

Learn to Ice Skate – You can enjoy a free ice skating lesson every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 4pm beginning December 18th as long as the pond is frozen. You simply sign up at Village Rentals before 3pm. If you have skates, bring them along, and if not you can rent some for a small fee.

See Santa – Santa will be visiting the Village on December 19th, 20th and 24th. Head to the gazebo for all the Christmas fun. On the 19th and 20th Santa will be there from 3 to 5pm along with carolers and a table for crafting your own ornaments. On Christmas Eve the hours are extended to 1 to 5 pm and Santa will read a special story at 4p.

Torchlight Parade – This beautiful sight, taking place on Christmas Eve every year, is one you simply have to witness at least once in your life. According to the Winter park resort website, the event starts around the bonfire at the base of Winter Park Resort, next to the Zephyr Lift  at 4pm with Christmas carols. The carols are followed by a procession of skiers and riders bearing torches down the mountain, followed by Santa Claus and his crew. The evening closes with a fireworks display and lighted snowcats on the slopes in formation.

There is so much to do and enjoy at Winter Park over Christmas week, plan your family vacation now to make the most of your trip while you make magical memories together.
