Steamboat Springs

Properly dubbed Ski Town, USA, Steamboat Springs remains one of North America's most inviting ski and snowboard resort destinations. Nestled on the western slopes of the Rockies, in the far northwest corner of Colorado, the area is well known for its deep Champagne Powder® and invigorating runs.

On the Slopes

Boasting 3,668 vertical feet, the 10,568 foot summit is the second highest in Colorado! With over 160 named trails and a run that's over 3 miles long, the resort has spent millions making sure it will be the best ski and snowboard vacation you will ever have. Thinking of picking up some new skills, tricks or tips? Maybe you'd like to try out snowboarding at the massive Maverick's terrain park. Steamboat Springs is set up to offer you the very best in expert ski instruction, and quality ski equipment rentals. Whether you're a total novice or an expert skier, the Olympic-class instructors are bound to help you ski all you can ski, help you on your way to Master of the Mountain. Discover more helpful hints about riding the terrain in the Ski Experience and Snowboard Zone.

Off the Slopes

Slope-side accommodations and local ski lodgings are available for every budget. From hotels and inns, to vacation condominiums and private home rentals. When a place gets a name like Ski Town, USA, it's got some pretty big snow boots to fill. From start to finish, you're going to find they have thought things through. The closed gondola service, for example, gets you around from the base village level to the ski areas and relieves you of the bother of transportation to and from the mountain itself. The shops and restaurants, both on the mountain and off, are designed for your convenience. The appeal of this Old West town continues after the sun has gone down and the slope lights are shut off for the evening. With over 70 restaurants and bars, you're not going to run out of choices in your first five years of visits! Pub Crawl takes on a whole new meaning at 7,000 feet, and you can count on the entertainment being top notch as well.

If you're looking for winter alternatives, how about climbing up a frozen waterfall? Or a sleigh ride under crisp mountain skies to a five-course gourmet meal? How about a gondola ride up to the mountain, where you can dine while looking out at the nighttime mountain splendor? Cross-Country skiing, helicopter rides, and shuttles to areas not accessible by the lifts, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, hot springs, snowmobile and snowshoe tours, luxury spas, bungee jumping, even a tour of a working cattle ranch.

Getting Here

You will love the drive—it twists and turns with something amazing to see just around the bend. Located in the northwest corner of Colorado you have several options to get there. Commercial jet service to Hayden, Colorado links Steamboat Springs with the rest of the US and the world. Or fly into Cheyenne, Wyoming or Denver, Colorado and allow yourself time, as the town is three hours from both. But you have the Arapahoe National Wildlife Refuge and the Rocky Mountain National Park to enjoy along the way.
