Lake Louise Ski Resort

With terrain spread across four mountain faces, Lake Louise Ski Resort is one of the largest ski areas in North America, and provides exceptional riding and skiing in the midst of the Banff National Forest. The village’s lake is set in front of Victoria Glacier and bestows one of the most iconic and contrasting natural scenes in the Canadian Rockies.

Canadian Big Country

There’s plenty of terrain to ride and explore in the Lake Louise area.  Be prepared to take in tremendous views overlooking the lakes, forests and glaciers of Canada’s first National Park.  Beginners and intermediates will enjoy the freedom and safety of exploring a vast mountain area with plenty of easy runs to start, but also with more challenging routes to pump up the adrenaline. Experts will enjoy the more than 2500 acres of accessible skiable terrain in the back bowls that are jaw-dropping to ride.

Off the Slopes

Set deep in the forest, Lake Louise’s landscape produces lots of unique winter activities like ice walking through frozen waterfalls and canyons, or caving touring deep within the Rockies. Snowshoeing, ice skating, ice climbing, ice fishing, dog sledding, and horse-drawn sleigh rides are popular activities to enjoy.

You’ll find an array of dining, shopping, and galleries, most of which are concentrated in a small mall within the village.   Lodging and hotels are just 5-10 minutes from the base area and there’s a regular free ski shuttle. You might notice some famous faces and dignitaries in town who are drawn to Lake Louise for its simplicity and charm.

Getting Here

Lake Louise is a little more than a two hour drive from Calgary International Airport, and 45 minute drive west of the town of Banff.  You can fly into Calgary and rent a car, or take ground transportation services directly to the Lake Louise hotels.  Driving in from Edmonton, Vancouver and Jasper are also options, and is possible to take a sleeper train right into downtown Jasper.
