In winter, the province's major attraction is of course, the skiing and riding. World renowned Whistler Blackcomb Resort, Fernie, Kimberley, Panorama Mountain, Whitewater, Silver Star, Red Mountain and Grouse Mountain, in North Vancouver, are all located here. That's not to mention, the unforgettable adventures that the province's helicopter skiing operators offer. They've been heli-skiing here since 1965, and the service, and overall experience has improved every year thereafter.
Destinations within the province are linked by the well-maintained, Trans-Canada Highway. By air, sea, or rail, Vancouver is the major international portal of entry for many visitors. The city offers a clean and reliable mass transportation system consisting of "The Sky Train," excellent ferries (it's great just to ride the ferry for sightseeing) and buses. From Vancouver it's easy to hop on a train and head north, rent a car, or hook up with a guided professional tour group.
