Grand Targhee

Cradled in the western slope of the Teton Mountains, this full-service, year-round resort promises a dream vacation. There are two beautiful snow covered mountains, a fabulous base lodge and handfuls of activities that everyone will enjoy.

Old-Fashioned Western Hospitality

Located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, the Grand Targhee Resort is near world-famous Yellowstone National Park, as well as the stunning Grand Teton National Park. In addition to breathtaking natural beauty and plentiful snowfall, Grand Targhee proudly boasts good old fashioned western hospitality and a great value.

The area is overflowing with natural beauty, from the intensely polychromatic terrain at Yellowstone, the stunningly jagged 14,000’ Grand Teton and the abundant wildlife, to the large swaths of snow-covered land entirely void of humans. The area is absolutely magnificent and millions of people come from all over the world to see what natives have known for years. Pristine landscapes, fantastic natural wonders and some of nature’s best snow is part of what makes an escape to Grand Targhee absolutely unforgettable. The great deals and discounts the resort offers throughout the season keep many people coming back every year.

The resort spans two mountains, 2,500 acres of lift-served terrain, 500 acres of backcountry, over 70 named trails, which are distributed 10 percent for beginners, 70 percent for intermediates, and 20% for advanced levels. The resort welcomes skiers and snowboarders alike and offers more than 500 acres of backcountry powder runs for all. There are also a few terrain parks for freestyle skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. Snowcat skiing and backcountry tours are available, as is more than 15 kilometers of Nordic skiing. The resort receives a staggering 500 inches of snow annually, beginning in November and continuing on into April and even May, which is more than enough to blanket the entire area in feet upon feet of fluffy, dry powder all season.

Off the Slopes

The base area at Grand Targhee serves as the hub of the resort. It’s a more peaceful and less crowded alternative to neighboring Teton Village. In fact, many skiers prefer to break up their ski trip by staying half the time at Jackson Hole and the other half at Grand Targhee. There are several lodgings located slope side that put guests just a few steps from the resort’s lifts, restaurants, shopping, rental and repair shops, as well as other amenities (such as daycare and complimentary ski and snowboard storage). Just outside of the ski area are several options for vacation homes and condominium rentals. Many of the accommodation options feature great ski and stay packages throughout the season.

There are plenty of activities off the slopes as well, including horse-drawn sleigh rides with authentic cowboys, snowmobile tours through Yellowstone National Park, ice-climbing lessons with seasoned professionals, and a series of back-country tours and avalanche clinics for advanced and expert skiers and riders. Those guests looking for relaxation during their vacation would do well to head to the resorts full-service spa or outdoor heated pool and hot tubs for rest and rejuvenation.

Getting Here

Fly into Jackson and enjoy the one-hour drive through the beauty of the western U.S. You'll most likely want to rent a car, but other options are available such as shuttles and car services.
