Wondering what's in store for you at Apple Valley? On the left half of the mountain is the freestyle areas and terrain parks. The Mohawk Valley terrain park is about to have a sibling: Shelter Valley terrain park is scheduled to open for the 2007/2008 winter season! The usual props, tables, rails, and such are found in both parks, and the adrenalin junkies there are really flying, catching a surprising amount of air! As always, it's about the mega fun, and Alpine Valley aims to deliver.

The middle of the mountain is downhill slalom country. The Valley Flyer and E-Z Rider quad-chairs both go to the top of the mountain. From there, Beginners trails are found to the right after you exit the chairs, after going a ways down the ridgeline. The first of the two wondercarpets is situated between the two quad-chair lifts, and the second further yet to the right of both of the quad chairs. (Wonder carpets are a beginner's/kid's device, and take riders only a short ways up the mountain.)

Cross-country, snowshoeing and other winter activities are also available. Cross-country skiers will be especially pleased to traverse the hills and glens of the resort's grounds. The area is very picturesque in all seasons.

Alpine Valley's instructors are well trained and certified professionals who can guide anyone from a child on through mature adults, teaching them to enjoy the sport safely. The mountain's volunteer Ski Patrol was established the same year the resort was developed, over 40 years ago. Since then, that Patrol has been honored many times, including being named Outstanding Ski Patrol in the Nation.

Of course, there's a lodge and village area, where you can enjoy a hot meal or pick up some quick energy food. There are hotel rooms right there at the resort, and an indoor pool as well as the usual adult lounges. Alpine Valley operates a golf course during warmer weather, so they're a well equipped service resort; if you want to, you can remain at the resort your entire stay.

Alpine Valley Resort is located in Southeastern Wisconsin and is one of the largest ski resorts in the state. Getting there is easy; From Chicago, take I-94 west towards Milwaukee, then exit WI Hwy 20, go west to Hwy D (Hwy 20 curves north, so turn west on Hwy D, they are just 1/2 mile west of the intersection of Hwy D and Hwy 120. From Milwaukee, take I-43 south to the Bowers Rd exit, south to Hwy D (1/4 mile) left on Hwy D, 1 mile. From Rockford, I-90 north to I-43 north to the Bowers Rd exit, south to Hwy D (1/4 mile) left on Hwy D, 1 mile. From Madison, take I-90 south to I-43 then north to the Bowers Rd exit, south to Hwy D only (1/4 mile) left on Hwy D, and then just 1 mile and you are there. From St Louis, take I-55 north to IL Hwy 47, north, when you hit the boarder of Wisconsin the highway becomes WI Hwy 120, continue north to Hwy D, Turn left, then go 1/2 mile.
