Beech Mountain Snowboarding Zone

Riders Guide - The combination of warm southern hospitality, frosty alpine landscapes, luxurious facilities and premiere Eastern skiing and snowboarding are just a few elements of what make Beech Mountain a fantastic resort. The base of the village is at 4,675 feet in elevation, the summit’s 5,506 feet, which makes 830 feet of vertical for riders to race down. The 10 lifts can accommodate nearly 10,000 visitors each hour. On the mountain there are 15 trails which span the 95 acres of the resort. The trails are divided amongst all ability levels, there are 2 for beginners, 7 for intermediates, 4 for advanced and 2 exclusively for freestyle skiing and boarding. The resort normally receives well over 100 inches of snow each year, but also has top-of-the-line snowmaking machines which cover 100% of the terrain.

Parks and Pipes - Beech Mountain also proudly boasts the region’s premier half-pipe and terrain park, which opened at Beech Mountain Resort in 2008, as well as Meadows Park, which is dedicated solely to beginning snowboarders. The parks both include a fantastic series of natural and manmade terrain, which including several half-pipes, grind rails of varying sizes, and a host of jumps ranging from small to massive. Likewise, Beech Mountain wants snowboarders to know that they are warmly welcomed to the resort and encouraged to ride all of the mountain’s runs.

Out of Bounds - Aside from premiere alpine skiing during the day and night, the area also has an enormous tubing park (also open at night), large outdoor ice skating rink, sledding, and an indoor pool. The mountains themselves have great hiking trails and a host of rock and ice climbing is available. There are also great shops, galleries, cafes, bars, pubs and delicious North Carolina BBQ joints scattered throughout the area. There are tons of deals and discounts, not only for lift ticket and Beech Mountain, but also for activities around the area.

Hangout & Hookup - Located slope side, visitors will find a pleasant atmosphere, relaxing environment, delightful fireplace and fabulous drink specials at the Alpen Restaurant and Lounge which is very popular with the locals. Or head outside of the ski resort area to find a variety of other après ski spots in the many restaurants, bars, pubs and lounges that are found in the surrounding towns of Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock.

The Deal - Commercial airlines service the Hickory, NC; Charlotte, NC; Greensboro, NC and major Tennessee airports. Travel from the airport to the mountain requires a rental car which is readily available from the airport. Beech Mountain is easily reached via the interstate system. By car, major interstates that pass by the area include I-77, I-81, I-40 and I-26. Ultimately, visitors want to follow NC-184 directly to Beech Mountain Resort.
