Plattekill Mountain Ski Experience

Plattekill Mountain is a family friendly resort that features 35 different trails for riders of all ages and experience levels. Spread out over 75 acres the runs are distributed as follows, 20% beginner, 40% intermediate, 20% expert and 20% advanced. There are three lifts that take you around the mountain. The longest trail, the Powder Puff, is 2 miles long. The steepest trail, the double-black “Blockbuster” plummets down 1,100 vertical feet. There is also a terrain park for freestyle skiers.

Plattekill Mountain is a no-frills, low-key resort that focuses its energies on providing the best skiing in the area. There is an array of different lessons available ranging from private to group lessons for both beginners and more advanced skiers. There is also a tubing park on the mountain which can be a welcome diversion from skiing.

There is no slope side lodging offered at Plattekill, but each year the resort teams up with local lodging to offer spectacular ski and stay deals to visitors of the Catskills each winter. Whether it’s historic estates, charming inns, boutique hotels or modest budget motels, the area has something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Plattekill Mountain offers a few dining options, including a grab and go snack shack, restaurant, and a bar that makes the perfect après ski stop. The nearby towns of Roxbury and Margaretville offer other dining and drinking options.

Plattekill Mountain is easy to get to, thanks to its perfect location in the heart of New York State. The mountain is a three hour drive from both New York City and Long Island. Albany is a quick 1.5 hour drive. Driving there is simple and Route 30 runs right next to the mountain. Bus service is available from New York City and other points south with Adirondack Trailways. Amtrak offers service to Rhinecliff, NY which is only a 1 hour drive from Plattekill.
