The village of Lake Placid is considered the resort
center of Essex County, offering unlimited summer and
winter recreational opportunities. Set in the mountains
and lake country, this famous quaint village was the site
of two Olympic Winter Games, one in 1932 and the other in
1980.
Saranac Lake is in the heart of the Adirondacks and
at the hub of activity. Lush forests, pristine lakes and
lofty mountains surround the village of more than 5,000
people. Selected as the Number One Small Town in New York
State, Saranac Lake offers a multitude of winter
activities, including skiing, skating and snowshoeing. In
the summer you can canoe the wide-open lakes and rivers,
and hike among the area’s small scenic summits or venture
into the high peaks. Also, there is shopping, history,
dining and fine accommodations, making Saranac Lake an
unforgettable vacation spot.
The Schroon Lake area is a four-season vacation
paradise! Many lakes, ponds, streams, mountains and
wilderness areas provide access to canoeing, boating,
swimming, fishing, hiking, golfing, tennis, picnicking,
