Riders Guide - The Red River Ski and Snowboard Area in New Mexico is a great family-friendly resort with a nationally renowned ski school perfect for kids and new skiers, as well as more advanced skiers who want to learn some new skills. The resort features 48 trails that split fairly evenly among skill levels with 32% designed for beginning skiers. About 38% are intermediate trails that can offer challenge to keep most experienced skiers happy, and 30% of the trails are expert trails that can help even the most advanced skier feel challenged and invigorated. The rest has 75% snowmaking, so there's always fresh powder, and there are plenty of lifts so you won't have to wait in line.
Parks and Pipes - Red River's Hollywood terrain park offers a little something for snowboarders of every skill level. From tabletops and rails that are set a bit lower for beginners, to truly challenging hips, jibs and boxes for more advanced boarders, there's plenty to enjoy about this terrain park.
Out of Bounds - Red River Ski and Snowboard Area is known for its snowmobiling tours. A tour guide offers day time snowmobiling trips that can run over 50 miles of trails that are well-groomed and fresh, for someone who just wants to get out on a snowmobile. For someone who wants a bit more adventure, you can be led on a snowmobile tour to the top of Greenie Peak, which has an elevation of over 11,000 feet. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are also popular in their own special area, known as the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Area. This is located on the top of Bobcat Pass, and features about 2 dozen miles of groomed trails and a variety of terrain. If you're traveling with a pet, your pooch can even go on your snowshoe trip in certain areas.
Hangout & Hookup - There are plenty of opportunities for nightlife and après-ski at Red River Ski and Snow Board Area, both at the resort itself and in the nearby area. From things like fine wines to locally famous drinks and draft beers, you can enjoy a quiet evening, or enjoy live music and dancing at nearby nightclubs.
The Deal - The nearest metropolitan area to Red River is Albuquerque which is 168 miles away, so if you come in at the Albuquerque International Sunport, the picturesque drive is about 3 hours.
