Snowboarding Zone - Big Powderhorn, Blackjack, Indianhead, Mount Bohemia & Porcupine Mountains, Upper Peninsula Michigan:

Riders Guide - North Michigan’s Upper Peninsula area offers some of the finest winter resorts for skiing and snowboarding. Big Powderhorn, Blackjack, Indianhead, Mount Bohemia and the Porcupine Mountains offer some of the finest groomed trails, ungroomed rough terrain and winter weather for snow sports and activities. From terrain parks to ski-in/ski-out accommodations and slope side dining, the area is a ski mecca.

Parks and Pipes - With 5 terrain parks among the 5 resorts, there are pipes, jumps, boxes, rails, and features aplenty. The two resorts that don't offer terrain parks are Mount Bohemia and Porcupine Mountain. Mount Bohemia is actually a mountain that's just for high-intermediate and advanced skiers, with only 2 intermediate trails and the rest designed for experts, with ungroomed terrain and trails designed for the adventuresome skier not afraid of craggy cliffs and steep, fast drops. With a vertical drop of 900 feet at 71 trails, more than any of the other 4 mountains, it's definitely a dedicated ski vacation spot. Indianhead and Big Powderhorn offer spiffy terrain parks with all the features beginning and advanced snowboarders want. Blackjack has some of the best rails and boxes of these resorts.

Out of Bounds - These 5 ski resorts offer a variety of snow sports, aside from Mount Bohemia which focuses around expert skiers and those who want to become experts. Indianhead has a laid back atmosphere, more so than the others but even Big Powderhorn offers things like an ice rink, sleigh rides and extra winter activities like sledding, ski races and cross-country skiing.

Hangout & Hookup - The area offers a variety of restaurants, pubs and ski bars to suit even the most finicky nightlife and après-ski connoisseur. There are establishments that offer everything from rustic dining to fine cuisine, and elegant wine and liquor bars to beer on tap and live entertainment and dancing, Big Snow Country, as this area is called, has it all.

The Deal - These ski resorts are located in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Big Powderhorn and Indianhead Resort can be reached easily right off US route 2. Blackjack Resort is off US 2. Turn onto Baker Blackjack RD and follow it until you reach the resort. The Porcupine Mountains are on I-64 at Ontonagon. And Mount Bohemia, for those coming from the Hancock area, should take Rte 41 North 35 miles to Lac La Belle Road. After a right turn, this expert skier mountain is only 4 miles away.
