Ski break at Wisp
Wisp Resort Ski Experience
If you're looking for a mountain of fun in the Maryland or D.C. area, there's really only one place to be, and that's Wisp Resort. They've gone out of their way to see to it that you have a really good time during your stay. It's not that you couldn't think of something you'd like to have, just that you'll be far too busy having a blast with what's already there!
The east coast isn't exactly famous for its ski resorts or snow. But there's something unique about this mountain's location that lets it catch an average of 140 inches – nearly 12 feet – of natural snow each year. Then a top-notch grooming team takes over with the biggest airless snow-making facility in the region. The result is nonstop excitement! Wisp may not have the most impressive vertical statistics you've ever heard of. What really matters, though, is what they do with the mountain, and Wisp has worked award-winning wonders! The mountain's runs will keep beginners and intermediate skiers challenged the entire vacation, and more expert skiers will enjoy the chance to take it easy between runs down the advanced and expert trails. But that's still statistics, and there just aren't any facts and figures to describe the pure fun you'll have at Wisp!
They've put in a number of terrain park areas, designed for various levels of ability. You can get your kicks on a five-foot box, or challenge yourself to forty feet of air! The snowboarders enjoy the halfpipe, but it's not just for them either. Anybody who wants to let loose their adventurous side is welcome to play anywhere on this mountain! With the new features and attractions they're always adding, it's becoming hard to imagine even getting to them all! The latest expansion includes 10 more trails on the northwest side of the mountain, including one Expert run that promises to push the adrenalin envelope!
Not content to rest on their laurels, one of the really great things about Wisp is that it's dynamic. Sure, trails will still be there, but they seem prone to moving things around, building up the bumps, always improving the ski experience and keeping it interesting. For example, moving the terrain park to the base of the mountain, (which leaves that park's previous location open for other innovations). Again, this resort impresses with that they work hard at making sure visitors enjoy themselves and that it continues to be fresh, even for returning guests.
Rental gear is the best in the area. The friendliness of the entire staff is legendary, and many give the ski school high marks, both for youngsters and adults. Wisp makes for a great environment for this as well. Take a lesson or two and focus on improving your skills during your stay.
The watchword at Wisp is obviously fun. The vibe of excitement is all around you – both young and seasoned faces are glowing, smiles all around. Everybody's stoked! At the end of the day, it's not about the statistics, it's about the good times you can relive and talk about when you get back home. By that, Wisp gets pretty good marks; having a great time - isn't that what a great ski experience is all about?
