Snowboarding Zone - North Lake Tahoe, California:

Riders Guide - Squaw Valley gets 450 inches of the best powder per year, and has 34 lifts including a 150 person cable car, 100 trails, and a longest run of almost 17,000 feet. The runs are rated 25% for Beginner, 45% Intermediate and 30% Advanced. Alpine Meadows gets a jaw dropping 500 inches per year, and has 13 lifts including 3 high speeds, 100 trails, and a longest run of 13,200 feet. The runs are rated 25% for Beginner, 40% Intermediate and 35% Advanced. Northstar At Tahoe gets a very respectable 350 inches per year, and has 16 lifts including 8 high speed quads, 79 trails, and a longest run of 7,845 feet. The runs are rated 13% for Beginner, 62% Intermediate and 25% Advanced. Diamond Peak gets 300 inches on its 6 lifts and 30 trails with a longest run of 13,200 feet. Ratings are 18% for Beginner, 46% Intermediate and 36% Advanced.

Parks and Pipes - Squaw Valley's Riviera/Central Park is for experienced riders with full size halfpipe, tables, jumps, rails, boxes and it's accessed via a dedicated lift. Mainline Superpipe and Terrain Park is the home of Squaw's legendary and enormously gnarly Mainline Superpipe with 17' walls, plus a selection of rails, including a 40' rainbow double, and a wide open area of tables and jumps. Belmont Park is specifically for smaller kids and those new to pipes and parks. Alpine's Terrain Park and Gravity Cavity Superpipe features 17 foot high walls, 2 step-downs, 1 table, 1 flat rail, 1 rainbow rail and more than 25 hits, rails, and quarterpipes. Northstar at Tahoe has a Terrain Park packed with bumps, jumps, jibs, tabletops, and 17-foot superpipe walls.

Out of Bounds - Lake Tahoe is a pristine Alpine wonderland. You have to get on the lake with a canoe to really experience it. Enjoy lots of great snowmobiling and cross country skiing too. Get to Emerald Bay, hike up to Eagle Falls and enjoy the wintertime splendor of the Desolation Wilderness area. Snowmobiling and other winter activities are everywhere in the area.

Hangout & Hookup - Lake Tahoe casino resorts have everything you could ever want and more. They are the perfect places to hang out and mingle. Of course if you head all the way out to Reno, you'll find a party city that rivals Vegas in almost every way. Closer to the slopes, the River Ranch near Alpine Meadows has the best après-ski in North Lake Tahoe. Over by Squaw, The Loft Bar is the standby locals' hangout and the Red Dog Bar & Grill is where the Squaw Valley staff hang out. Balboa Cafe features a wonderful variety of drinks, Bar One is great for live music and the Plaza Bar is the local Sports Bar. The newest après-ski spot in the Squaw scene is the Balboa Cafe, with its tasty appetizers and a variety of drinks. If you're heading Tahoe City way check out Jake's on the Lake, Rosie's Cafe, Pete 'N Peters, Pierce Street Annex and Hacienda del Lago. The best live music in the area will be found at the Sierra Vista, right next to the Boatworks Mall. If your travels take you as far as Truckee, head for Commercial Row to visit The Bar of America and the Pastime Club on Commercial Row or the live music at Trio which is gaining a reputation as a really hot happening nightspot.
