Arizona Snowbowl / Flagstaff

The Arizona Snowbowl is only seven miles from Flagstaff and two hours from Phoenix. It’s one of the oldest, continually operating ski resorts in the United States, getting close to eight decades of serving skiers and riders.

Ski Arizona

With a vertical drop of 2,300 feet, just under 800 skiable acres, and 40 trails, it’s perfect for all skiers. The longest run is two miles, and there are four chair lifts servicing them. The Arizona Snowball gets an impressive 260 inches of snowfall annually. And the Sunset Terrain Park has spines, rails, and a variety of boxes to challenge all skill levels. While Elk Ridge Ski Area’s peak is just above 8,000 feet, it offers 37 acres and trails for all levels. For more information on the area, the experience of skiing, and the snowboarders guide, read Ski Experience and Terrain Parks.

Off the Slopes

There are lodge-style accommodations on Highway 180 at the base of the mountain and there are two lodges in the ski area as well, for those who want to stay slopeside, both at just about 9,000 feet in elevation. The lodges have food, beverages, and a variety of ski shops and ski items, and one has a bar and nighttime entertainment available. A variety of ski cottages, rental homes, condominiums, bed & breakfast, hotels, and motels are available in the nearby Flagstaff area. At Hart Prairie and Agassiz Lodge ski lifts, you’ll find snow shops for your winter clothing needs and gear rentals.
