Ski Powder mtn.

Just close your eyes and imagine this hypothetical situation: There is a four storey building on the slopes of Powder Mountain. In the middle of winter, the residents would have to walk up to the roof and shovel away a couple of feet of snow from there just to get out. That's what 510 inches of powder means. It's an absolutely incomprehensible snowpack. To say that it's skiing paradise is to make a gross understatement. Powder Mountain is heaven for expert skiers who can choose from some of the most challenging runs in the American West, including Quicksliver, Snowchaser, Tombstone, Medicine Man, Quickshot, Geronimo, Eureka, and Rendezvous. Intermediates will never tire of the amazing natural features to be found off the Hidden Lake high speed quad and the Timberline Lift. Beginners have their own neophyte-friendly face to learn their skills on, the immaculately groomed and maintained Hidden Lake.

Powder Mountain has an intermediate to expert level Terrain Park with spines, table tops, hits, rails, a great quarterpipe and a 400-foot-long halfpipe. The beginner level skiers and the kids will find another Terrain Park to be their preference: Drifter Run is a great place to practice those basic skiing skills with a large selection of smaller and milder features. When you want even more artificial feature fun you can drive to nearby Snowbasin's two Terrain Parks and amazing superpipe. A perfect place for the kids to burn up all that excess energy is Krazy Kat Park which has some really nice features, such as boxes, rails and table tops. The park is primarily for the beginner to intermediate category so you might want to keep an eye on those young skiers when they try out some of the more difficult features. The other park at Snowbasin is Apex, and it's a much more advanced Terrain Park featuring a significant selection of rails, spines, boxes, and table tops.

There are plenty of dining options right by the slopes of Powder and Snowbasin that will save you the short drive to Salt Lake City. Powder Mountain Restaurant at the Resort Center is the largest restaurant on the mountain and features extremely filling and reasonably priced classic cafeteria fare at the main base area. For some really great burgers and chicken sandwiches go downstairs to the Powder Keg. If you want some amazing views to go with your burger and fries, check out the Hidden Lake Lodge, at the top of the Hidden Lake lift. Sundown Lodge, at the base of the Sundown lift is a good place for a quick bite on the run.

You would never imagine that in the midst of the snow cloaked wonderland that is Utah in the winter, you can go snorkeling and/or scuba diving amidst tropical fish in an incredible underwater reef setting! Bonneville Seabase and Neptune Divers has an all-weather inland ocean, where in the midst of the Utah winter blasts when it's blowing snow horizontally in a -30 degree F. wind chill outside, you can convince yourself that you're diving off the Great Barrier Reef or in the Bahamas shallows!
